The Ukrainian authorities opposed the participation of the LPR and DPR in the negotiations.
(Face Of Nigeria Blog News)- Earlier, the Ukrainian media reported on the proposal of the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Dmitry Kozak to hold a meeting of the Normandy Four directly in the conflict zone in Donbass with the participation of representatives of the LPR and DPR.
Later, he confirmed this information and accused the Ukrainian side of the fact that its representatives “are doing anything except the actual settlement.”
On April 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin to hold a meeting “anywhere in the Ukrainian Donbass where there is a war.”
On April 22, the heads of the DPR and LPR suggested that Zelensky arrived in Donbass for an “honest and open conversation.” The Ukrainian authorities then announced that they would not conduct any negotiations with representatives of the self-proclaimed republics.
Putin said about the need to start meeting with the leadership of the LPR and DPR .
According to him, if Zelensky wants to discuss the Donbass problem, he first needs to meet with the heads of the DPR and LPR and only then with the Russian leadership as a third party.
The participation of representatives of the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR in negotiations to resolve the conflict in Donbass may make the dialogue unconstructive.
This was stated by the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
“Joining the negotiations of some persons who do not decide anything on their own would make such negotiations unconstructive already at the start,” Podolyak said.
According to him, the organization of such a meeting with the participation of the LPR and the DPR on the line of contact in Donbass can “blur the very idea of negotiations”, as well as make sense of the existing formats and their achievements.
