Russian Embassy in Lithuania calls expulsion of diplomats unmotivated.
(Face Of Nigeria Blog News)– Earlier, as a sign of solidarity with the Czech Republic, Lithuania decided to expel the employees of the Russian embassy in the republic.
Similar measures were announced by Latvia and Estonia: the countries will send one diplomat each.
On April 17, Czech authorities announced that they suspected Russian intelligence agencies of involvement in an explosion at an ammunition depot in the village of Vrbetice in 2014.
One of the explosions killed two people. On April 22, the Czech Republic announced that it would limit the number of Russian diplomats in Prague.
Moscow responded in a mirror image.
The decision of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry to declare two Russian diplomats persona non grata is unmotivated, the Russian Embassy in Lithuania noted RBC interviews.
“The embassy assesses this decision negatively, as it runs counter to the statements of some Lithuanian politicians about the development of cooperation.
This decision is unmotivated, since there is no evidence of the fact that the deported people were involved in illegal activities in Lithuania, ”the embassy said.
The diplomatic mission noted that they received a notification of the expulsion of diplomats.
Employees will have to leave Lithuania within seven days.
